A stone-throw away from Bondi beach, this
modern apartment called for a contemporary,
refined take on coastal chic.

Our client engaged us to decorate and modernise his apartment and create a continuity of style and a common design language throughout his home. He wanted an airy, beach feel without being clichéd coastal. Our approach was to use a neutral base of light-oak timber floors and white walls as the backdrop on which we added lashes of texture, colour and warmth from the moment you step through the door to the kitchen, living room and bedrooms.

Injecting character via materiality and texture was a key focus for this project, from the kitchen’s dark marble benchtops and brass fixtures to the caramel leather sofa, green velvet dining chairs and two-toned European oak media wall.

Kind Words

“ILI worked with me to capture what I wanted to achieve, then filled in the (many) gaps to make it a reality. Love the result, and I can’t recommend Ioanna and her team highly enough.”

The TV was always going to be a focus in this living room so we gave it purpose within the framework of a masterful Kett Frame Living system.

The master bedroom is flanked by full-wall windows on two sides. We wrapped the walls and ceiling in a dark saturated charcoal blue and installed automatic white shutters, which are a refreshing stark contrast.

The outdoor terrace has a fairly small footprint; a couple of don’t-leave-me chairs and small concrete table were all that was needed to enjoy the vista at sunset, cocktail or beer in hand.
