Dark and evocative living in a Federation home.

Our clients engaged us to revitalise and decorate the front of their Federation home, and inject life, understated luxury and story in a part of the house previously not used. We divided the 10-metre long living room into two functional areas: a library / grown-up’s zone to idle the hours away in front of the fire and a lounging / media kid-friendly zone complete with a fun gallery wall that displays some of the family’s treasured artworks.

The architectural details that speak of the house’s heritage, such as ceiling moulds, roses and cornices were embraced and restored, while inky blue walls punctuated by white joinery wrap around caramel Tassie Oak herringbone floors.

Details and quality of execution were an important focus for the marble fireplace wall with custom cabinetry on either side.

Kind Words

“Ioanna was able to see my vision clearly and deliver us exactly what we wanted: a relaxed yet elegant living room where I can unwind with my family or entertain friends.”

The accompanying furnishings are generous in size and emotive in feel and texture, while the reflective nickel pendants and distressed mirror tables add glamour and bounce light around the room.

There is a silent gasp when you walk into the living room, a feeling that if you stop to linger this space will cocoon, support and piece you back together for another day out in the world – which is exactly the feeling that every home should provide.
