Classical and contemporary combine harmoniously in a North Shore family home.

An original brief of whites and neutrals progressed and transformed into something more daring during the interior renovation of this young family home that started from an inspiration image of our Bayview master ensuite. While the house has been stripped of fuss, it has been gifted a more personal, accessible luxury that is tactile, warm, rich in detail and without clutter.

With particular attention paid to the living spaces as well as the master bedroom, we blended some classical furnishings with more streamlined contemporary pieces.

Starting from a light, neutral palette, we created mood and texture in those spaces and enriched them with colour, warmth and art.

The material diversity of the large format textural tiles, hand-cut gloss squares on the feature wall, terrazzo floor, painted timber vanity and brass tapware are drawn together as harmonious elements in this contemporary bathroom – delivering tonal, calming and refined luxury.

The family room is a cosy, warm and colour-infused space where the family can gather, whether for a drawing session with the kids or a Netflix night in. We designed a 3-metre media wall in contrasting white and natural oak tones, which anchors the room, provides ample hidden storage as well as some open shelving to display family treasures or the boys’ achievements.

The master bedroom is flooded in natural light and surrounded by verdant greenery. We brought in some graphic contrast and materiality through the use of soft furnishings and art. The walk-in robe, while not big in size, is an indulgent space with sensor strip LED lights and felt-lined drawers where treasured accessories can be displayed.
