A transformed Sydney workers cottage now brims with colour and joyful spirit.

Ioanna Lennox Interiors were engaged to reinvigorate and revitalise this pretty workers cottage in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs. While the character of the facade was maintained, new paint and the addition of graphic black and white porch tiles further enhanced its charm. Inside, the original front rooms were opened up and a large living area created, while the back of the house has the kitchen and adjoining dining area. Our team re-designed all three bathrooms, created new joinery throughout, reimagined the fireplaces and all floor surfaces and introduced lighting and furnishings in the living areas and bedrooms. The resulting design is a reflection of our client’s own aesthetic filtered through our studio’s lens.

The rear of the house has the open plan kitchen and dining with an abundance of light, air and storage. We kept the existing travertine floor and added a leather-like banquette with ample storage along the left wall that marks both the dining space and extends into a seating area. The Asian-inspired Prussian blue wallpaper adds vibrancy and soft drama to the space.

The master bedroom

The materiality focused on stunning natural stone, timber veneers, highly detailed joinery with rattan inserts and brushed brass tapware and light fixtures.
